Playing the Daily Equilibrium with some ambient space banjo music in the background is my new therapy.  Thank you <3

(+1)

I loved this game

(+2)

Hi! We played your game on stream and really enjoyed it!

(+1)

Thank you so much for playing! I’ll check out your VOD! ✨

(+2)

DOES work on Steam Deck

(+1)

Fantastic and evocative experience.  I loved how small, picturesque scenes could be found in all the islands that I generated. The variety in locale you were able to get was really interesting.

Thoroughly enjoyed exploring these islands, bravo dev!

(+1)

This game was very peaceful and relaxing to play. The only issue I came across was that whenever a world generated rain my game would crash.

(+2)

Even though my current rig probably can't handle this game, I gotta buy one. I can just play it later on, AND it'll provide a free one to someone else. The game looks gorgeous, and as an amateur photographer, yet quite experienced artist, I absolutely love photography mechanics in games!

I’m attempting to run on linux and all I can see when I try to play the game is a black screen and a crosshair. I can tell the game is loaded in, and the controls are working, because I can hear the water, and footsteps, and make my way out onto the beach, but none of the visuals are properly displaying :<

Oh I figured it out, if I use right click to open up the camera it starts displaying, and when I exit out it’s working. Is this working as intended?

(+3)

Definitely not intended, I’m currently monitoring this bug :)

(+1)

Same issue, glad it's easily fixed.

(+2)(-1)

The idea is very nice, sadly, it is quite poorly optimized :(
Tried playing and the game got stuck (I could press buttons, but nothing was happening) in the options. After restart managed to make it work, but got stuck again on a piece of terrain. Also, noone mentioned it, but the boat you spawn in is shaking the player wildly.

The idea is lovely and the visuals look nice! Hope to see this project in a better shape in the future: :)

(+3)(-1)

Also! i understand, that the idea behind this is to be able to relax, but imho (you can ignore me, if you dont want advice, ofc) some chill quests or at least collectibles would improve the experience!

(+1)

Seems to run terribly on Mac Mojave. I'm on a 16GB RAM with a 3.6ghz i3 and Radeon Pro 555X so it's not unable to play games, but this is basically a slideshow unfortunately! Almost locked up my entire Mac at one point.

Got the game in the bundle yesterday and was really looking forward to play it with my niece today, but I can't download it without buying it again. There is no download option. Help would be much appreciated🙂

(+5)

Hey! You need to download the game through the bundle page to claim it to your account :)

(+3)

just saw the community copy thing, that is so incredibly sweet wow. i just got the game in the bundle and it was the first game i tested, expecting to only play a few minutes of it because usually im not the type for games with no goals BUT DAMN like. this game is incredibly nice and intuitive to play and i love it so much already. I think like as a game dev procedural stuff can feel overdone a bit, but the idea to combine it with photography is really fun and keeps you engaged way longer than I had expected.

here are some feedback ideas I thought of:
- i noticed that the camera UI has an (ISO/1/60 shutter) written the the bottom, i  honestly thought i could change that in some way and tbh i think it would be dope if you would flesh out the camera more like that? changing shutter dissolve / iso / exposure time ( i google translated all of these words rn) and playing around with photos like that would be a really cool addition, because people can learn how camera basics work and i think you can do a lot with just these three settings in terms of interesting photos
- i would love if there would be some more movement in the sceneries, like lighting bug particles or small animals or some wind animations of trees etc (that would also work really well with the first idea because then you could do cool motion blur photos because of the movement)
- I like how little tutorial the game has but maybe spawn the player character next to the boat and not on the boat when the game first starts, because I was very confused when the travel-UI popped up after i took my first photo
- maybe a smaller second compass needle pointing back to the boat would be a nice idea because some islands did get really big tbh
- the "Return to your boat to move on" text is in a photograph if you take one while its displayed

anyways I really love the game ♥

(+3)

Thank you for your thoughtful comment, it means a lot! <3

The shutter speed / ISO / exposure “triangle” and it’s effects are actually pretty tricky to implement, but it is definitely under consideration! I’m currently working on a generator overhaul with lots of new stuff to take photos off, and definitely a few moving parts in the mix :)

I will admit, I have never thought about spawning next to the boat, but it’s actually a pretty good idea! I will test that!

(+1)

I haven't played the game yet, but I really plan on doing so, specially after seeing the community copies, that's the nicest thing I've ever saw from a game publisher, I appreciate what you're doing a lot, keep it up!!!

(+1)

This is such a amazing wonderfull landscape :)

(+2)

Hi, I wanted to leave comments about the Linux version! Almost everything works pretty well [1.4.1], but there’s a couple of things I want to point out:

  • After arriving at an island, the screen is black with a small white dot in the middle until I right click for the first time, and it looks the way it’s supposed to (through the viewfinder and after closing it both look good.)

  • Saved photos have a .jpg extension, but they’re actually PNG files. Most applications don’t care, but some do, and will refuse to open the picture until I change the extension to .png. (Saving as an actual JPEG file seems like the best solution to me.)

  • A way to enable vsync or cap the framerate would be appreciated. I think the game is currently trying to push as many frames as possible, regardless of my monitor’s refresh rate, causing my GPU to get hotter than necessary.

  • Scroll wheel in the viewfinder doesn’t seem to do anything at all? I may be misunderstanding how to use that feature.

Thanks for the awesome game! I’ll definitely be back again, and again, to take more photos.

(+1)(-1)

Thank you for the reports! I’m glad you’re enjoying the game 💕

(+3)

Having a Daily mode is brilliant.

Wish there were shutter speed controls together with some moving objects in the world.

(+3)

Absolutely lovely game! I'm an avid amateur photographer and I love exploring and taking pictures. I have a couple of suggestions from my first run:. I have MacOS BigSur and the game wouldn't run for me. MacOS said it was damaged and that I should trash it. The 2x "CTRL clicking and opening" trick would not work for me but I did find a workaround::

  1. Open Terminal
  2. Type (and don't press ENTER yet): sudo xattr -cr
  3. Make sure there is a SPACE after "-cr"
  4. Drag the Shutter Stroll App into the Terminal window which automatically completes the path to the app.
  5. Press ENTER and type your Mac login password to authenticate the action. It should look like this:

Now I can open the game normally and don't have to repeat this process when I open it the future.

I did have a struggle when it opened though. I eagerly pressed "Start Exploring" but alas, My early 2015 MacBook Pro is not equipped for the default 3360x2100 resolution on Beautiful graphic setting! Everything kinda froze up and for a moment I thought the cooling fan was about to make my Mac lift off. With patience I was able to reduce the resolution and graphic quality (although I don't see any noticeable difference in quality) and the game ran perfectly after that. I've seen many games have an automatic graphic setting which might come in handy here. (Everyone starts by overriding them because "my Mac is special" but the lesson is learned quickly until the next game is installed).

I would also love to be able to crouch and even lie down flat when I'm taking pictures to get those low and super low angles.

I'd also love if the zoom acted more optical, but I understand that this may be very hard to implement. If I zoom in on a tree in the distance the background would sort of enlarge and the depth of field would narrow down making the background blurry. This web app may help explaining, if you alter the "Distance" setting: https://camerasim.com/camerasim-free-web-app/

Lastly, some wildlife (birds and deer maybe?) and more types of trees and flowers could really spice things up. Even dead trees can be very beautiful and they can add a lot of drama to photos.

Even without those alterations I highly recommend this gem! Keep up the good work!

(+1)

hehe, I really like this game! I recommended it to my furriends too, and they all love it as well!! We might start a little discord photography club because of this game just to share the photos we take ehehehe

(1 edit)

does andbody now what the exclusive content is and how much you need to buy i just hope i get a golden camera for it

Really fun game but it keeps on crashing about a minute into the gameplay

Hey! Would love to investigate that crash, feel free to shoot me a message on Twitter or join our Discord and DM me there :)

(+1)

Made a gameplay of your game. I really liked it

(+1)

I really enjoyed the game and included it in my second Hidden Gems Video. A like/subscribe would help me a ton to continue with this series <3

(+2)

this game looks awesome!

(1 edit) (-17)

Now I feel bad for clicking before reading all text for community copies. Getting a game from Piratebay looks like stealing, but this FEELS like stealing. I can easily pirate a game, but I wouldn't have gotten this copy if I read all text. Professionals have standards.

wait so this is pirated?

(+4)

I think the person above would have rather pirated my game than accept one of the free community copies I am offering for people who are not able to pay.

(+1)

Oh. Anyways, that's really nice of you! I think this game is really beautiful.

(1 edit) (+20)

I am sorry to have upset you with the free copies I am offering. You can still pay for the game, which in turn unlocks more community copies for people to take :)

Also, please don’t comment about pirating small indie games on other game pages, as it is really discouraging for developers who are spending months on games for people to enjoy. Thank you!

I still hope you enjoy your game and hope you’ll give it a nice review ✨

I've been able to play the game thanks to the community copies, the game is very relaxing and i think i could play it for hours just to find out how many different islands i can find, i also found out 12 easter eggs. I wonder how many other easter eggs there are! I haven't found out any bugs yet, but i would suggest to make the islands and rivers generation a little bit better, i found islands that had like a cube in the middle and rivers that took too sharp curves, other than this, the game is great!

i'll leave a link to the drive folder (itch didn't let me upload them because they were too large)with all the easter eggs i've found so far. also if you look at the island 44 44 44 44 it says : "Did you solve the riddle yet?" Please help me find out what the Riddle is, i really want to know!

https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Od5h1iWVSvX_tbC-9QjdBLGw845NDsvB?usp=sha...

Thank you for your feedback, I am glad you’re enjoying the game! I just pushed out a small quality of life update, and updates to the island generation are next on my list!

I love your pictures, if you wanna find more islands with names, maybe you should check out the credits :)

(+1)

Heya, I just got around to playing this and really enjoy it! There's some little touches others have already mentioned that I'd also like to see, but for what it is right now, it's a nice, straightforward chillout game.

The only issue I've really run into is that some of the islands seem to generate such that the game can't handle them & it crashes to desktop. If there are crash logs that may help, I don't see them in the game folder, so not sure what I could send to help. I don't know when it will happen until I embark to the next island, so my best bet might be to screenshot coordinates before setting out & send those your way if they crash the game, I guess?

Nevertheless, thanks for the relaxing little game!

(+1)

Hey! Thank you for your feedback! I’ve been looking into the crashes and it seems like a problem on the engine-side sadly :/ I just updates the game using a newer version of Unity, which might fix this bug, but I can’t promise anything!

(1 edit) (+1)

Lovely experience. Thank you.

(+1)

Thank you for the report, I’ll look into it for the next update!

(+1)

What a fantastic experience! It's so fun being surprised by what a new island has to offer, I love it!

(+2)

I think this might become a new morning ritual for me.

Oh bleah - it won't load the islands on my computer ... it shows a black background to the title screen and it never gets out of the "take a stroll" screen when I go to an island. It just plays an occasional water-lapping-on-beach noise. :(

Oh no, what OS are you on? I am currently working on an update, maybe I can try to fix that issue :)

Currently running Windows 7 - running things in a user account and not an admin account, if that makes a difference.

It might be Avast virus protection being a jerk, though - it's freaking impossible to troubleshoot bugs with that :(

Ahh yeah Avast can be really weird sometimes…Maybe I’ll stumble upon what’s causing this, if you can I’d love to have some screenshots and maybe log files, if you’d like to send them to me over on Twitter!

That makes sense - I can try booting it again to take screenshots. Where do I look for log files?

If you open the images folder from the game, just jump up one folder and there should be log files present there :)

Long-belated update: I think my 2010 laptop just did not have a modern enough graphics card to run it. I recently upgraded to - *checks notes* - a 2015 computer with a budget 2013 graphics card, and now the game runs wonderfully.

A moody photo of a procedurally-generated island, with some conifers and some round trees tucked into hills next to a meandering valley full of water. The trees in the foreground are slightly out of focus, as are the hills in the background.

(+1)

Is there any chance you could add the option to invert the mouselook? I've been playing games with the mouse inverted for 25 years now and can't do it when the mouse is backwards from what I'm used to.

I’ll put that onto my to-do list!

(+1)

Thanks! It's a pretty thing.

The mouse inversion has made it into the new update!

(1 edit) (+1)

This is an amazing game! In real life I love to explore new and different places and take pictures, I'd always enjoy the view and relax. Since quarantine happened, this game helped me to relive what it feels like going outside and enjoy the little things in life.. <3

You are amazing creator! no like really! Thank you for this game :') (and stay safe!)

Thank you! <3 I am glad the game helped you to relax in these crazy times :)

It's an excelent game to relax from all the stress other games can cause you, a good addition may be perhaps small animals? Some island may have colorful birds, others may have reptils, others (if it's a night island) may have fireflies, etc.

I love trying random combination or full birthdays and see what it gets.

(1 edit) (+1)

Wonderful little tool that creates randomized worlds with vibrant colors to explore and take some pretty pictures of. The sceneries are very pretty, but could use some more visual variety. The camera filters (press F) are a great start, but a game like this could use more in depth fine tuning of camera asettings. I enjoy that they offered even a daily island mode, where everybody explores the same island and walking through this really makes it engaging to hunt for that one perfect picture on every island. Lovely idea and a ton of potential. 3,5/5

More Racial Justice bundle impressions and ranking:
https://itch.io/c/915453/quick-impressions-bundle-for-racial-justice

Oh there are actually camera filters, whoops! If I make a sequel, I want to really beef up the camera though :)

(+1)

Oh, I will imediately check it back out again then!

(+1)

What are the controls for it? I seem to be too blind to find it, haha. :)

(+1)

The controls are in the Readme, you can select filters with F :) I’ll be putting the controls ingame in another update sometime!

(+1)

Thanks! Did you ever get around to making an option to remove the shutter stroll icon/coordinates? I would second that as making a pure picture would be more useful for aesthetic purposes in many instances where you arent trying to "share" the level. :)

(+1)

I am considering it!

(+1)

i really enjoy this! the colors are so lovely. i have a question though - i see the same features on different islands, are there only the same few features available or is there more variety that i just haven't seen yet?

I had to cut a bit of content to make it for release! But I will be working on a bigger update that features more content to be generated.

(+1)

oh that's so exciting! i love the game as is, don't get me wrong, but an update sounds fantastic.

Thank you! It will take some time, but I hope you’ll come back when I update the game :)

(+1)

Nice and relaxing, I like it.

The only problem I had was finding where my photos went, it took a wile to undestand that playing with the itch.io sandbox active prevented the game from saving the photos on my pc.

(+3)

I don't know if you'll have the same success with this, but with the sandbox enabled I was able to find the saved photos in::

C:\Users\itch-player-[your-unique-sandbox-ID-here]\AppData\LocalLow\Jannik Boysen\Shutter Stroll\Photos
(+2)

Thanks, that did help indeed :-)

(+1)

I'm enjoying this game so much. It's so relaxing and peaceful. I love how simple yet beautiful it is and how you can make awesome pictures just with the light, the shapes, the colors and the few tools the camera has. And the monoliths!!!! <3

(+2)

It is the proof that a simple and easy game can give you great moments of relaxation and fun, and be an open game for everyone

(+1)

That game is really relaxing, my girlfriend found a use out of it, randomly generated landscapes are a good thing when you like painting !
I would like the possibility to go back to a island, like a screen where I could put the coordinates of the island to go back to it eventually, please consider it ! Thank you !

Oh you can do that! When you took a picture, return to the boat! :)

(+1)

I didn't know that :3 Thank you for the info !

(+3)

I found the controls in the Read Me, but they should really be in the game.
